The tallest tower in the Southern Hemisphere just went high-tech!

Working with MagnifyWorld, Motim created two unique family experiences for SKYCITY: A large AR 3D spinning globe for a promotion in the atrium, and a “Great World Explorer” experience for use on the Observatory level to compare famous towers around the world.

For the Hollywood Red Carpet premiere of Ghostbusters, Motim created an augmented reality experience so the ghosts from the movie could join in the red carpet fun. 

Sony’s photographers could capture images live and share these via a media gallery from both the Red Carpet and the premiere After-Party.

Trade shows are a great way to exhibit a company`s products around the globe but often a limited booth space hinders the show case of a wide range of products especially for displaying entire laboratory configurations. Motim has created a Virtual Reality experience that allows trade show visitors to took at multiple laboratory configurations. The application operator at the trade show booth is able to guide the visitor through the product range by using a tablet interface that communicates with the VR headset. A large display mirrors what the visitors experiences in order to attract further audience. The solution is very portable, extremely easy to set up and fits into a small suitcase.

Showing 3D content in an educative context in print media is challenging. GOLDWELL`s target was to combine a mobile app with hairstylist guides as an educational tool that bridges the gap between digital and print media. 

Motim worked with CAMAO AG to develop a mobile and tablet application that enables users to examine the latest GOLDWELL hairstylist coloring and cutting techniques by showing color and pattern coded 3D mannequin heads in Augmented Reality in conjunction with the latest edition of the Color Zoom hairstylist guide.

As a follow up from Motim’s prior work with Island Def Jam Records and Big Sean, Motim updated the artist app to engage with his fan base at a much deeper level. Label management can now update music, videos and Big Sean’s signature Ad Libs dynamically.

Big Sean’s fans using the app had exclusive access to his latest video clip #IDFWU before it was released on other platforms. Also included in this update were enhancements to the social media experience through an upgraded photo editor.

Creating fun experiences to demonstrate the waterproof capabilities of new Sony Xperia devices was the ideal brief for Motim.

With no existing solution to detect that the phone was in water, Motim's first challenge was to create a method for identifying that these waterproof devices had been submerged, so we invented a sonar technique using neural networking technology, and subsequently shared that to allow others to create their own fun experiences.

Next we used our advanced rendering engine to allow Goldie, our favorite (virtual) goldfish, to perform tricks in the water, and developed a suite of other experiences including a submarine game, a virtual plant, and a cute virtual umbrella. Meanwhile our friends over at Soft Facade (using Motim's water detection technique) developed a karaoke experience and a photo-processing app, completing the initial line-up of Sony Underwater apps.

Following the successful launch of the devices and apps, it will be interesting to see what creative applications independent developers are able to release using the platform developed by Motim and the Sony Underwater team.

Arguably the most influential artist in the world's EDM scene, Skrillex has a reputation for delivering his fans something new and surprising. Motim helped realize the latest installment by producing the “Alien Ride” app, available on the Apple iTunes AppStore and Google Play market and embedding the latest Skrillex album “Recess” as a surprise for fans through a unique unlock process.

When fans first downloaded the app (published under Motim Technologies Ltd. to further obscure the bonus features inside), they were presented with an asteroid arcade game and a countdown clock, synchronized worldwide, eventually counting down from 72 hours. As word spread that the app was somehow related to Skrillex and speculation built that it may contain some secret music, download numbers quickly rose and hardcore fans tried desperately to crack the secret of the Alien Ride app. Murmurs of a secret track listing circulated on the internet, by which time the countdown was well underway.

Once the countdown finally expired at midnight EST on March 11, 2014, another layer of the app was revealed, enabling fans to see an emoji interface revealing a new track every thirty minutes. Fans were able to enjoy tracks of the album through the app one week in advance of the full album release, with the game and custom Recess music player living on. Who knows where Skrillex and Motim will take this next?

When a home owner is investing in their heating solution, it not only needs to perform well, but also add to the style of the property.

Motim worked with Rinnai New Zealand Ltd. to develop a mobile and tablet application that enables users to browse the portfolio of Rinnai gas fire home heating solutions to view different models, and through the Magic View augmented reality function see them in situ in their own home. The ability to visualise the gas fireplace in this way is a huge help for a home owner in an important purchasing decision.

ampm has been bringing good stuff to American consumers since 1978, fueling up more than just the car at hundreds of service stations within the USA. In 2013 Motim worked with Carnival Labs and First Star Communications to produce a dedicated Good Stuff mobile app for iOS and Android devices to allow ampm customers to win good stuff through a fun game and by scanning QR-codes in ampm stores, while integrating a loyalty card so consumers can be rewarded with free drinks and snacks, as well as having the chance to win major prizes.

The ampm representatives are able to monitor and define reward pools and retail staff can validate claims directly off the mobile app as customers present their rewards. By designing a flexible architecture the Good Stuff app can be used as an ongoing part of the ampm experience, ensuring more consumers continue to enjoy Good Stuff at ampm.

Motim partnered with the Boys Noize team to create a mobile app to allow fans to visually share the fun expressed through Boys Noize original music. Users are now going hard out creating BNR Error images and sharing them through social media.
